Tile Center CERTIFIED LEAD-SAFE BY THE EPA
The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) implemented in April 2010 the Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting Program Rule to ensure that people are protected from the harmful effects of lead on the body. Lead has been proven to pose a serious threat on children’s brain and nervous system. Those exposed to high doses of lead are found to develop learning disabilities and lower IQ. Others develop behavioral problems, especially those below 6 years of age. On the other hand, adults exposed to lead are known to acquire hypertension.
Lead can either be inhaled or ingested and most of the threat at the present time comes from homes or structures built before 1978. Prior to that period, lead-based paint was still allowed with its health hazards still remained undiscovered. However, while these structures are still out there, renovations or repairs on them can be dangerous to homeowners or residents in the area.
To ensure the safety of residents, the EPA Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting Program Rule requires all contractors performing renovation, repair, and painting projects on structures and facilities built before 1978 to be certified lead safe. Certified renovators are likewise required to take a EPA-approved training course and follow specific procedures during the renovation process.
The very moment that the EPA implemented and made effective the lead rule, Tile Center did not waste any more time in securing its certification. Tile Center immediately complied with every policy and guideline and was a Lead-Safe Certified Firm in June 2010. Upon fulfilling of the EPA requirements, Tile Center is now a qualified contractor that can work on homes and structures built prior to 1978. The company ensures that all its workers have all the necessary skills and equipment to prevent all possible lead exposure during renovation or remodeling. This is undeniable proof that Tile Center is committed to delivering quality service to its clients as well as protecting the health of all residents from any hazards that may result from the renovation. Tile Center not only cares for your home, but also believes in preserving people’s health and the environment.
